Here we are in Yokohama Japan. Had planned to do lots of site seeing, but came down with a cough and runny nose. Everyone went to Tokyo yesterday and sightseeing here in Yokohama today. I opted to stay locked up in my room rather than see how many I could infect. Thankfully, Anh doesn't show any sign of it. I would have preferred being ill at sea rather than during a highlight destination, so much for planning.
The picture is from our last port (Kushiro). It's 1325 here and "all aboard" is at 1730. So I took a wad of tissue in my pocket and left the ship for some free wifi and a chance to update this blog.
The first two weeks were hard on some of the passengers. We had some rough water for several days. I was told this morning that there are just over eight hundred passengers on board. Which explains the lack of crowding. I think this is the smallest group we've sailed with.
I have not taken any pictures her yet, some indication of how well I feel. I tried giving Anh some simple instruction with her camera, but I guess she was too busy to take pictures. If there's daylight left when I finish here, I'll snap some harbor shots.
As I suspected, my reading list was quite optimistic. I've only gone through three of the numerous books. We have a pastor that teaches a bible study every day we're at sea. He's very good and we enjoy spending some time with him and his party. They are about ten in number and we fourteen. So combining would not be possible at any of the tables. I also met a guy who loaned me dvd's of "The Truth Project". It was a production of Focus on the Family in 2012 and is excellent. It does a really good presentation of the Christian worldview.
I was saddened to hear of the damage caused by hurricane Michael in North Florida and Georgia, yet relieved that it apparently blew right past our little island.
I hope to have more pics next time. I haven't looked at the schedule but it think we may be there in the morning. If not, certainly by Thursday. By the way, If you subscribe at the bottom, I think Gargoyle will send you a notice of new posts.
