Sept 30
Deposited Anh and Hong at ship and returned to LAX. Dropped rental van and caught HAL shuttle back to ship. Once aboard, unpacked luggage and ran my stinky body through the rain locker. Felt like a new man. Visited the gym and weighed in at 244.8.
Had a nice salad for lunch, then at 1730 had NY steak and ribs with some veggies on the side. Was very tired and retired early.
Oct 1 - at sea
Awakened 0330. Spent some time in Psalm 1 and then at 0545 went to gym. Elyptical for 30 minutes and weights (curls, leg extensions, and rowing. I’m told the he scale is unreliable at sea so I plan to weigh again in Dutch harbour.
After a nice hot shower felt like a million bucks. Eggs, ham, bacon and sausage with several cups of black coffee. Ate with Joseph and Maria. Still have not seen Thu & Lan or Tom and Julie.
Life at sea has a rhythm that’s easy to adjust to. My schedule is rise about 0530, go to the gym for 45-60 minutes. That consists of 30 minutes on the elliptical and then pump some weights. Back to the room for a nice hot shower and clean clothes. Some quiet time to read and reflect. Then it’s up to the Lido for a cup of coffee or food if you’re hungry.
We have had moderately rough seas on our crossing and sad to say many have been adversely affected. Two were taken off in stretchers this morning. I don't know what their problems are, but am praying for their recovery. I'm so thankful that the motion doesn't seem to bother me. I'm hopeful that it will not continue to vex my fellow passengers.

Today is Saturday, Oct 6 and we are in Dutch Harbor. It’s not much as ports go, but there is some history here. WWII this was overrun by the Japanese and occupied. All over town one can see hardened firing positions from the period.
There’s a Safeway here in town and across the street a watering hole named Norwegian rat Saloon. There is no free wifi in town. Even if you buy a beer they want $5.00 for access. I’m hopeful that in some of our future ports there will be a better access. Here it is painfully slow. The one redeeming aspect is the Alaskan Amber. They have no local beer here so I'm constrained to quaff a beer from far far away.
It looks like uploading pics from this remote outpost is a dicey proposition. So I may have to update with pics later.
We have a daily bible study onboard and I enjoy it. Also, I met a man who has videos of a series called "The Truth Project". It's very good.
